Safety Guidelines

How we keep Beacon safe for everyone.

Crisis resources

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. For mental health crises, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. For crisis chat, visit 988lifeline.org.

What Beacon is not

Beacon is peer support — not therapy, not a crisis hotline, and not a substitute for professional mental health care. Our volunteers are compassionate people with lived experience, not licensed clinicians.

Protecting your identity

Never share your real name, address, phone number, workplace, or school with other users. If a Beacon or member asks for this information, please report them immediately.

Reporting concerns

Every post, profile, and conversation has a report button. Use it. Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes action within 24 hours for urgent safety concerns.

Blocking users

You can block any user at any time. Blocked users cannot see your profile, send you messages, or interact with your posts.
